Ryan Whalen, Chief Development Officer Rhode Island Hospital I Hasbro Children’s Hospital
Lifespan has recently announced Ryan Whalen as the new Chief Development Officer of Rhode Island Hospital and Hasbro Children’s Hospital. This position was previously occupied by Joe Pannozzo. Joe recently became Vice President of Development for Lifespan and will remain active with philanthropy moving forward.
Through the Rhode Island Hospital Foundation, Ryan and his team are responsible for all fundraising, including the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals program, and serves as the liaison between the hospitals and generous corporate and individual supporters.
Ryan has spent the last five years at Rhode Island Hospital focused on securing major and planned gifts for a variety of services lines. Through his friendly demeanor and positive, can-do attitude, Ryan has helped significantly elevate our culture of philanthropy in our cancer and neuroscience areas, among others. His ability to build relationships with donors and physicians alike has led to numerous significant gifts for the hospital. A lifelong Rhode Islander, Ryan has a great passion for his home state and knows it well; as such, coupled with his successful major gift track record, Ryan is an ideal fit for this CDO role. Prior to joining Lifespan in 2016, Ryan spent six years as a leadership giving officer at his alma mater, Providence College.
