Kit Costs to Increase in 2021
CMN Hospitals would like to share an update on kit pricing in 2021. Many industries have seen increases in the cost of goods over the past year, including our long-time vendor partner PZ Printing, which we anticipate causing moderate increases in kit costs. The amount of the increase varies by print item; however, we are expecting to see increases of roughly 12% to all kits. Please refer to the FAQs below for additional information. CMN Hospitals will continue to work closely with our vendor and fundraising partners to continue striving to maximize fundraising ROI.
What is the reasoning for the increase?
Our prices are increasing for a number of reasons: Paper prices have increased drastically in the last three to four years; additionally, CMN Hospitals as a network is printing and shipping less than we have in the past. When paired, we are no longer able to get the discounted rates on our annual paper, box, and shipping costs.
Can hospitals opt-out of campaigns? Or not receive kits?
Our partners choose CMN Hospitals in part for our mission and in part because we are able to execute fundraising campaigns at local, regional, and national levels depending on their needs. To ensure that we are able to meet these expectations, our partner hospitals are contractually obligated to participate in campaigns and are unable to deviate from the selected kit components.
Who decides the kit contents?
Corporate partners ultimately decide what items to include in their fundraising campaign kit. CMN Hospitals teams work closely with our partners to provide advice, best practices, research, and support. Balloon and coupon balloon totals are based on past fundraising performance for each location when not decided by the partner.
Is there an average kit cost?
Each of our kits cost different amounts. Price is determined by the number of items selected by the partner, how many additional fundraising items are included (balloons or coupons), the size of the box(s) needed, and shipping costs to each specific location.
Can I get an example of how this will increase costs for a campaign?
Click here for examples of campaign kit print costs for a small, medium, and large market. These examples are based on the 2020 DQ balloon campaign kits and show the increase in cost by item and by market if the 2021 kit prices were applied to the same kit. Please note that kit items that are not a part of our standard selection are not included. *The best way to estimate your market’s kit costs is to increase 2020 costs by 12%. 2020 kit costs can be found in the Direct Cost Invoice Report on Mission Control.
When will the increase take effect?
Price increases will take effect immediately. They will be included in Q1 invoices as part of Direct Costs on May 15.
How often are hospitals billed for kits?
Hospitals are billed for kits as part of the quarterly Direct Cost invoice, four times a year. Hospitals are able to pay the invoices or to have the cost withheld from the quarterly disbursement.
Where can I see what we have paid in the past?
All Direct Costs, including kit costs, are listed in the Direct Cost Invoice Report in Mission Control.
Why now, when our hospitals are struggling to adapt to covid?
We have been able to maintain our prices for the last decade; our print vendor bulk orders supplies to keep our costs as low as possible. Due to decreased print volume, we have been able to stretch supplies ordered in previous years; however, in 2020 those supplies ran out and we now have to catch up to the increased cost of paper and cardboard.
