New CDO Advisory Committee Chair Announcement
Dear Foundation Leader:
Happy New Year! Thank you for your engagement and support throughout 2019. As we begin 2020, here are changes to the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals’ CDO Advisory Committee which are good for you to know. I am pleased to announce that Steve Rum, Vice President of Development & Alumni Relations, Johns Hopkins Medicine, and member of the CMN Hospitals Board of Trustees, has assumed the role of CDO Advisory Committee Chair beginning this month following a unanimous vote by the Board of Trustees (BOT). Steve is looking forward to working with you all to fulfill the committee charter.
The Children’s Miracle Network Advisory Committee working with Chief Development Officers throughout North America provide support and council to the CMN Hospitals Hospital President, leadership and the BOT on communication, strategy and policy that will help strengthen the interest and values shared by the network.
Since 2016, and the inception of the committee, here is what we have accomplished together. The staff of CMN Hospitals have been vital partners in these efforts and accomplishments.

- Four contract amendments: All recommendations approved by the CMN Hospitals Executive Team
- 1st – addressing the fundraising partnerships and the noncompete clause
- 2nd – addressing the deletion of the noncompete clause, use of trademarks and Miracle marks
- 3rd – addressing the partnership model changes
- 4th – addressing the territory realignment through the Market Alignment Plan
- Quarterly Town Hall Calls
- Hospital Partnership Model Design; Recommendation accepted by BOT
- CDO Mentoring Program T.E.A.M. 365

- CDO Summit (Spring and Fall)
- Market Alignment Process (MAP); Recommendation accepted by BOT

I wish thank all of the Advisory Committee members for their tireless work as a team and through task force work to ensure your voice was heard on all pertinent and strategic issues as outlined in the charter. Under Steve’s guidance this practice will continue.
Please continue to speak up and share your insights. The town halls and surveys are important tools—please use them. We have a shared future which will be so powerful and good for the children and families whom we are privileged to serve. May this be a New Year of promise and challenge, engagement and enthusiasm for each and all of you.
Warm Regards,
John Bel
