Change to IHOP’s National Pancake Day Event Name
IHOP will be changing the name of National Pancake Day to IHOP Free Pancake Day. The event will remain the same as previous years with free pancakes served at participating IHOP locations from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12, 2019, with a suggested donation that benefits the local children’s hospitals.
IHOP feels that the notion of National Pancake Day gets lost with all of the other national food days that are now celebrated (national donut day, national hamburger day, etc.). IHOP’s hope is that the new name will better tell the story of what happens on that day (free pancakes) and that customers will inquire as to why this is happening. Updated printed materials will be used in the 2019 campaign which begins on February 1, 2019.
