The Play Yellow team is doing initial outreach to golf courses in the “Sun Belt” states over the next 6 weeks.  We are interested in verifying the right contact information at the courses, which will set the stage for future hospital engagement and Play Yellow program activation.

Starting in February, using the updated contact information, our team will start recruiting for Play Yellow Family Golf Day, growing grassroots support for Play Yellow and CMN Hospitals for years to come.

A “warm lead” list of golf courses will be provided to each hospital.  The Play Yellow team will introduce the facilities to the Jack and Barbara Nicklaus led Play Yellow program and identify their local children’s hospital.

Our aim is to have many golf facilities host a Play Yellow Family Golf Day in 2021, setting a modest goal to raise $1,000 per facility. For reference, test facilities in 2020 averaged $2,500 from Family Golf Day activation.

Phase 1 outreach (now – mid-January) will include courses in:

• North Carolina (Duke Children’s, James and Connie Maynard Children’s Hospital at Vidant Medical Center, McLeod Children’s Hospital)
• South Carolina (Medical University of South Carolina Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital, Prisma Health Children’s Hospital – Midlands, Prisma Health Children’s Hospital – Upstate, Florence / Myrtle Beach – McLeod Children’s Hospital)
• Central Florida (Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital)
• Alabama (Children’s of Alabama, USA Health Children’s & Women’s Hospital)

Phase 2 (mid-Jan. ~ end of Feb.) will include courses in:

• Texas  (North and South)
• Arizona
• So. California
• Hawaii

Success stories and best practices in phases 1 and 2 will help guide activations in other parts of the US.

What is Play Yellow Family Golf Day?

Play Yellow Family Golf Day is an opportunity for golf clubs to change kids’ lives and change the future for our 170 children’s hospitals.  We are asking that clubs or courses set aside a day or, if preferred, up to a month to raise money and awareness for Play Yellow.  Play Yellow in the simplest terms: wear yellow + post yellow + donate to your local children’s hospital through Play Yellow.

Kids, especially those being treated in our 170 children’s hospitals, and families are at the core of our mission. We know promoting family activities are essential to helping build strong families. Golf builds character and it doesn’t matter what skill level you have. Family Golf Day is the perfect platform to bring together friends and family for a little golf and a higher purpose.

Play Yellow Family Golf Day will be celebrated publicly on CBS golf broadcast Sunday, June 6th by Jack Nicklaus during the final round of the Memorial Tournament Presented by Nationwide. While we encourage events near or on this date, they may be hosted anytime.
