Rite Aid Approved to Sell Stores to Walgreen’s: Impacts CMN Hospitals Fundraising in 14 States

This announcement is a follow-up to the information that was shared in late June of this year pertaining to Rite Aid and the sale of stores to Walgreens Boots Alliance.

Rite Aid received regulatory approval for the sale of 1,932 stores, 3 distribution centers and related inventory to Walgreens Boots Alliance on September 19, 2017.

As a result of the store sales, the footprint of locations that fundraise for CMN Hospitals will be impacted, however, the timing of this impact is not known at this time.

Based on information available at this time, we anticipate that the percentage of fundraising stores remaining will be roughly 56%.

Some of our strongest fundraising markets were included in the sale. We will evaluate a potential forecast once the store list is available for Rite Aid to share with CMN Hospitals and as soon as details for the campaign in 2018 are determined.

States that will no longer have Rite Aid branded locations post-conversion include:

  • AL, DC, GA, IN, KY, LA, ME, MS, RI, SC, TN, UT and WV and the District of Columbia

Key contacts at Rite Aid are working to provide information as it is available.

The Account Director and Managing Director have remained in contact with Rite Aid and will continue to communicate updates about the partnership as applicable. We are working to schedule meetings with the Rite Aid team in late Q4 2017 to discuss the partnership in 2018.

It should be reiterated that Rite Aid remains committed to our partnership. More information, including any potential impact and changes, will be shared by Rite Aid in the near future.

During this time, we ask that you hold off on reaching out to the stores regarding the transition or campaign for 2018.
